Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) as it Relates to Dairy Production

In 2016 DES began a 3 yr USDA-NIFA funded project (2016-68003-24601) investigating the efficacy of modern dairy manure systems to mitigate AMR. This project, a collaboration with SUNY Buffalo, University of Maryland, University of Michigan, and most importantly several collaborating dairy farms, is one of the first thorough investigations of AMR in dairy manure treatment system in the Northeastern US. Our goal is to provide our dairy stakeholders with the most accurate information on this topic and equip them with the knowledge to continue making significant gains in the environmental, economic and social sustainability of their production systems.
